Ferris wheel function attracts industry mix

The Wheel of Perth Ferris Wheel at NightClients from a range of government and private businesses gathered last night at Bells Function Centre in the heart of Perth city to help NGIS celebrate 15 years at the forefront of geospatial technology.

Around 50 guests attended from companies like BHP Billiton, Landgate and Fortescue Metals to hear about some of the recent project highlights that have allowed NGIS consultants to work all around the globe.

Managing Director, Paul Farrell said that devices like in-car navigation systems and Google Earth have made spatial technology more widespread, because they are not only useful, they are also easy and fun to use.

"We are fortunate to work in an industry where we are continually on the edge of advancements in technology" he said.

"NGIS is a collection of very talented people who have helped develop ground-breaking technology like GeoSamba and our real-time hazard notification technology Indji Watch, which is now expanding to new markets in the United States."

Paul thanked domestic clients and partnersfor their continued support and said that without their loyalty, NGIS would not have been able to  take on bigger competitors and break into new markets internationally.

All guests were treated to drinks at dusk and a ride on the spectacularly lit Ferris Wheel to see the heights of the Perth CBD and river foreshore at night.
