Running off the back of a hugely successful event in Sydney, NGIS will sponsor the first official Ignite Spatial event in Western Australia. Around 250 people attended the Sydney launch earlier this month, which showcased speakers from all walks of the spatial circuit. Next Thursday, NGIS will sponsor the event in Perth – with the support of Ajilon and Landgate, Lagen Spatial and EBR Recruitment.
Perth Ignite Spatial is an opportunity to hear a series of whirlwind presentations on the latest technology and trends in GIS, spatial sciences or mapping in a colourful and entertaining format. Speakers have to coordinate their presentations with 20 timed slides - in the space of just five minutes.
Anyone interested in presenting, should register their interest at the Ignite Spatial website at www.IgniteSpatial.com as soon as possible to ensure a slot in the timetable.
Ignite Spatial’s ‘invitation-to-present’ concept began in Seattle in 2006 and quickly became a show-stopper. Rather than delivering day long conferences, the event is about giving short, sharp and entertaining talks in an informal pub-like atmosphere.
The sessions have been immensely popular in Sydney and Melbourne and this time around, the Ignite team brings the event to the west - thanks to NGIS Australia.
Event organiser Stephen Lead said Ignite Spatial-Perth promises to be a fun and entertaining evening where visitors will be guaranteed to learn something new, without suffering 'death by PowerPoint'.
"People these days can't really afford the time to take days out of their working week to sit through long speeches at conferences. Ignite is about condensing great ideas and sharing them in a fresh and engaging format," he said.
"We find people learn more in less time at Ignite events, plus it opens up a great opportunity to network with all sorts of people who are interested in the industry."
The invitation to attend Perth's Ignite Spatial is open to everyone and registration is free.
