NGIS scoops major contract with NSW Road Transport Authority

NGIS Sydney has secured a $600,000 contract to assist the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority migrate its PIMS (Property Information Management System) library of graphic data from its existing Autotrol (CAD based) system into ArcGIS. The work will significantly improve access to data resources and enable the Authority to take advantage of current spatial software tools.

NSW RTA Business Project Manager Bernie Tomlinson said: “NGIS has been awarded the contract after a significantly high response from all the recognised major players in the industry.”

NGIS Project Manager Scott Selkirk said the contract was a significant win for the business and followed the success of a scoping and planning consultancy project which NGIS completed for the Authority last year.

Scott brings extensive experience to the role, having previously coordinated a large-scale data collection project for the NSW Public Transport and Ticketing Corporation.

For the latest project, he teams with NGIS ArcGIS specialist Geoff Innes. Geoff has more than 20 years’ technical experience in the IT sector and in the last 16 years has specialised in the spatial arena.

“Geoff and I have worked together successfully on spatial projects for other large transport organisations in NSW,” added Scott.

To effectively deliver the project, NGIS partnered with spatial recruitment experts EBR to supply a pool of skilled GIS technical staff to carry out the work. The contract is scheduled for completion by July 2010.
