NGIS delivers GIS package to Rottnest Island

NGIS Australia has partnered with WA’s Rottnest Island Authority to introduce a complete GIS solution, including the latest desktop, mobile and web spatial systems, backed by comprehensive training and support.

The deployment will be critical to the long term management of assets on Perth’s favourite holiday isle supporting great efficiency in planning and decision-making.

The exclusive NGIS spatial engine, GeoSamba Universal, was selected as the preferred software because of its unrivalled value and unique ability to integrate web mapping and GIS data with business processes.

The technology mix included open source desktop software, for flexibility and economy, plus mobile GIS software to effectively capture data in the field.

The Authority possessed a wealth of spatial information, but lacked the systems to adequately manage, share, and connect day-to-day activities across the organisation.

To ensure the future sustainability of GIS, NGIS worked with RIA to develop guidelines and procedures to structure the way spatial information is created and used with the new system.

NGIS also provided customised procedures and guidelines, plus a tailored training program that included:

  • GeoSamba administrator training
  • GeoSamba user training
  • Introduction to ArcGIS training
  • MapWindow workshop
  • Mobile GIS training
