NGIS is working with Fugro in Hong Kong to supply and install instrumentation along the route of Hong Kong's KCRC West Rail line to monitor the construction phase and beyond.
Part of the contract is the design and supply of an instrumentation database system. The purpose of the database is to provide a readily accessible means of recording and retrieving data from all of the geotechnical instrumentation to be installed. This will be made possible through an ArcView GIS interface.
The Instrumentation Database is generic, allowing instrument types to be defined as needed during the life of the system.
The GIS interface allows the user to classify instruments based on specified criteria such as alarm status, and instrument type using KCRC's standard symbology.
The GUI will be used to enforce the complex system of user security limitations.
To aid non-GIS users, a wizard style interface will be implemented for setting up a contract within ArcView (there is one ArcView project per contract).
