Kings Park serves GIS data

“We are very pleased with the implementation to date,” reported Roger Fryer, Senior Curator at Kings Park, “and with the professional approach displayed by all NGIS staff.”  The implementation of the GIS throughout the corporation provides access for Park staff to a variety of mapping and textual information using ESRI’s ArcView Internet Map Server (AVIMS).

“This project provided a particular challenge for us,” explained NGIS Managing Director Paul Harris, “because Kings Park uses both Macintosh and IBM compatible computers and the solution had to operate across platforms.  The AVIMS product provided the ideal solution.”  The Kings Park implementation is the first AVIMS installation in WA.  The system will be extended in 1998 to provide information to the Public at the Visitors’ Centre and over the Internet.
