They say that life often moves in 7 year cycles and perhaps it is no different for business. NGIS turned 7 this year, a year that heralded a change in the ownership and management of the company.
Two new partners (Richard Bentley & Paul Farrell) have joined as shareholders of NGIS. Richard is from WMC Resources Limited and Paul has been managing the company's activities in Vietnam. Both bring outstanding skills and extensive experience to the company.
During the year we also won one of our larger contracts - the mapping of all the public toilets in Australia. This project is a world first and has brought us some interesting publicity!
Other developments during the year have included increasing work with petroleum and plantation agriculture companies. GIS is becoming more mainstream and organisations are finally understanding its benefits across the corporation. The Internet has assisted this charge and, we find, more and more of our work is including web based mapping.
To take advantage of these opportunities, NGIS is looking to grow, both nationally and into different sectors. Our new management structure frees me to follow these opportunities.
One exciting proposal has been the signing of a Joint Venture with UK company getmapping.com plc to set up Getmapping Australia. The JV is moving ahead and imagery will be available on our website next year.
NGIS is blessed with great staff who work tirelessly for the benefit of our customers. I’m sure you appreciate as much as me their professional efforts.
Finally, let me take the opportunity to thank all our wonderful clients, who have helped make this year such a great one for us. Have a fabulous Christmas and we look forward to working with you again next year.
