Local Government update

NGIS has recently promoted Gerritt Van Burgel to the position of Manager of Local Government services. Should you require further information on Local Government projects or packages, please contact Gerrit.VanBurgel@ngis.com.au

City of Geraldton

NGIS have recently completed installation of their MapObjects based Geographic Query Tool (GQT) at the City of Geraldton.  The system is being used by the staff at the front counter and in the planning, building and engineering sections.  It provides a GIS link to the information stored in their Info-LGS rating database enabling fast and easy access to vital information.

City of Bayswater

It is now over two years since the installation of the Geographic Query Tool (GQT) at the City of Bayswater.  The GQT serves as a map-based interface to the LOGIS rates database and work is underway to provide links to other corporate databases used by the environmental health and building divisions.  Over the past two years, NGIS have provided ongoing support and custom development in response to the needs of the City.  The GQT is now being used throughout the organisation on a daily basis by 35 staff and also as a valuable planning decision support tool at council meetings.

City of Greater Shepparton (Victoria)

The Greater Info GIS solution is now operational at the City of Greater Shepparton. In a joint venture with the City of Belmont (WA), NGIS developed a highly functional and easy-to-use interface to the City’s Pathway property system. Developed using MapObjects, the application passes information between the two systems, via a DDE link, taking full advantage of the functionality of both products. The City has 20 con-current licences, and staff are delighted with how the application supports their operational tasks.

NGIS exhibited at Local Government Week, displaying their mapping interface to council property systems.  This is currently installed at nine councils, the latest one being the Shire of Manjimup, where it is popular with all staff.

In conjunction with BSD Consultants, we have been picking up the location of drainage lines for the Town of Cambridge.  A pen computer product, Drain Map, has been used for this pickup, reducing the time to acquired the information and data duplication.  For further information, contact Kathy.Sheridan@ngis.com.au
