NGIS Manaing Director in China with the ADB

The project is managed by SMEC and is crucial to help farmers in China better manage the land and reduce soil erosion.  Paul managed to be in Tiananmen Square on the night that it was announced that Beijing had won the rights to host the 2008 Olympic Games – ask him about it.

NGIS is also playing its part in helping to rebuild East Timor.  In conjunction with AgWest International, we are establishing a GIS Data Centre for the Agricultural Affairs Department.  The Centre will provide information essential for the development of policy and planning for agriculture, forestry and fishing sectors in East Timor.  Richard Bentley and Rick Tomlinson were on the ground in East Timor for NGIS.

Tim Lufman has just returned from six weeks in Papua New Guinea, where he was working on the Port Morseby Downtown Redevelopment Plan.  NGIS is also part of the successful consortium, which included the British Geological Survey and CSA Ltd, that will be implementing GIS and web-based solutions for the PNG Department of Mines.
