The solution proposed by NGIS includes the ability to replicate spatial databases at all district offices. This provides the MSB with a reliable, robust solution that would enable district offices to maintain operations even while the Newcastle head office server or WAN were down.
The solution includes a document management system (DocuMap), an Oracle based property management system, ESRI GIS products and hardware, and associated infrastructure.
This will be the first spatial replication of its kind in Australia,” explained NGIS Managing Director, Paul Harris, “this solution would be appropriate for other organisations with regional or district offices that require more reliability for operations than can be provided by Internet or Citrix solutions. It also positions NGIS as an implementer of integrated spatial solutions.”
The project is valued in excess of $1.2 million and will be completed mid 2003. Other members of the NGIS consortium include Spatial Intelligence, Pelion and Alpha West.
