NGIS had direct involvement in this project by developing an intranet site, which will be used by all members of the Papua New Guinea Department of Mining and the Geological Surveys Divisions.

This system provides all staff having the ability to:

• Track a staff member’s movements through on-line diaries
• Reduce paper throughout the department by providing an on-line memo facility
• Keep all staff informed of up-coming events through departmental calendars
• Asset booking calendars for rooms
• Track correspondence in and out of the office, and who’s it assigned to
• Personalisation through windows authentication.
