The new GIS will enable operation staff to efficiently manage resources involved in roadside assistance. In a bid for continual improvement of its services to members, a GIS will be used to visually enhance their current roadside assistance dispatch service, which processes approximately 1800 calls per day.
Dispatch service personnel currently use a command line interface and rely heavily on knowledge of street locations built up from years of experience. A key factor for the GIS system will be its real time visualisation of patrol vehicles and roadside assistance jobs.
