The last seven years operating in Asia have allowed NGIS to gain an understanding of the business culture in Asia and to build an excellent network of contacts and successful business partnerships.
NGIS’ Asian operations commenced in 1996 with the opening of NGIS’ Vietnam office in Hanoi. Over the next four years NGIS completed many projects including the development of a Health Information System for the Ausaid Vietnam Australia Malaria Control Project’ and a computerised Sustainable Development System for the Hong Kong SAR Government.
In 2003, with increasing work in the region, NGIS China was established and an office in Hong Kong opened. Chris Hoar, NGIS China Managing Director says, ‘NGIS has experienced great success in Asia and has established itself as a key GIS player in the region’.
NGIS recently won some significant tenders with the Environmental Protection Department (Hong Kong) and is currently working on a number of projects within the telet-transmission industry.
Operating in Asia has presented many opportunities and challenges for NGIS. Chris Hoar: ‘We’ve built an excellent reputation in the region and demonstrated our ability to add value on a broad range of projects. We are now very well placed to expand into mainland China and other markets’.
